Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) USA works to gather entrepreneurs across the country – bringing new audiences together and strengthening the connections of local ecosystems everywhere.

With this year's celebration on the horizon (Nov. 8-14, 2021), the GEW USA team will share a weekly roundup of some of the amazing activities and events being planned and happening across the United States. 

Through the GEW Weekly Roundup, you will find a collection of 'global picks' that explore each of the four themes for this year's celebration: EducationEcosystemsPolicy and Inclusion. Take a look at the recent press coverage.

  • BAB Accelerate: Transatlantic Entrepreneurship
    (BritishAmerican Business Association // Washington, DC)
    Hosted during Global Entrepreneurship Week, BritishAmerican Business will bring together a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs to discuss their journeys of expansion and growth and the challenges they have faced, especially in the midst of a global pandemic.

  • Greenwood Together Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week
    (Index Journal // Greenwood, SC)
    The Greenwood Together initiative in partnership with the Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce and Uptown Greenwood will celebrate GEW, and they are looking for submissions for Small Business Workshop ideas for this year’s celebration. Topics can include financing a business, business planning, management, marketing, leveraging LinkedIn, understanding financial statements as well as panels in the areas of accounting and best practices.

  • Innovation and Commercialization Center to Host Entrepreneurial Summit During GEW
    (The News-Enterprise // Bowling Green, KY)
    The Central Region Innovation and Commercialization Center is set to host a free entrepreneurial summit at the Western Kentucky University Small Business Accelerator. Some topics covered in the breakouts will include Kentucky small business tax incentives, agricultural opportunities in Kentucky, retaining intellectual property in Kentucky and how to appeal to venture capitalists and angel investors. The summit is set to conclude with an Elevator Pitch Competition for attendees that can lead to real investment opportunities.

  • Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs Names Alison Vaughn Female Entrepreneur of the Year

    MAFE will present Vaughn, founder of Jacket for Jobs Inc. and award-winning author with the 2021 Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award during the MAFE Women Entrepreneurs Conference, which will take place virtually in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week.

  • Innovate Charlotte Launches Grant Program to Benefit Charlotte's Underrepresented Founders
    (CharlotteInno // Charlotte, NC)
    Entrepreneurial hub, Innovate Charlotte has launched a micro-grant program to help early stage, minority or women-founded startups. The Ignite Grant will provide four underrepresented founders with $5,000 each. Applications are open through Oct. 25, and finalists will be announced Nov. 1 and have the opportunity to pitch to a panel of judges during Global Entrepreneurship Week on Nov. 11.

  • Pittsburgh x Carnegie Mellon Team Up to Celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week
    (University of Pittsburgh Big Idea Center // Pittsburgh, PA)
    Join the Big Idea Center, Pitt School of Computing and Information and Carnegie Mellon University’s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship as they celebrate entrepreneurship in and around the city of Pittsburgh. The team has five virtual events lined up already, including a new panel discussion called 'Meet the Funders.'

  • Nominations open for NMSU Entrepreneur Hall of Fame

    New Mexico State University’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies and the Arrowhead Center are calling for nominations for this year’s NMSU Entrepreneur Hall of Fame recipient. The Entrepreneur Hall of Fame honors NMSU graduates who have launched successful businesses, introduced innovative entrepreneurial concepts and practices into workplaces, and/or who have contributed to the entrepreneurial climates of their regions.

  • Dare To Retreat with John Carroll University During GEW 2021
    (John Carroll University Innovates // Cleveland, OH)
    During Global Entrepreneurship Week, JCU is hosting two Retreats for Northeast Ohio young women in high school to build their confidence, (re)discover their purpose and create their future. In past years, they've recruited over 300 young women to cultivate new skills, and they are hoping to grow even larger this year.
