With Global Entrepreneurship Week rounding out the work week – and preparing for its final two days – events are still pouring into the website.
So which states and cities are leading the way?
Indiana is currently the top U.S. state on the #GEW2024 leaderboard with 108 events registered on the website (as of the time of publication). Tallahassee leads the race among cities with 52 events.
Please keep in mind that the team at the Global Entrepreneurship Network is busy compiling data for multiple weeks after GEW finishes – so the following counts are unofficial and will change. The final counts are validated through surveys and debriefs with more than 100 community organizers throughout the country. Based on news clips and social media tracking, large numbers of events from Kansas City and other communities are pending addition to the GEW website.
STATES
Indiana, host to the upcoming 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Congress, currently tops the list. Thanks largely to the efforts of the team at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the Hoosier state currently has a sizable lead (+26) over Pennsylvania (82 events). Leading the way for Indiana are two college towns – Bloomington, home of Indiana University, and Muncie, home of Ball State University.
Driving the scale for the second-place Keystone state is Penn State University, year-after-year one of the most engaged communities during Global Entrepreneurship Week in the U.S.
Trailing those two states in places #3 - 6 are Florida (54), California (53), Oklahoma (53) and Texas (51).
Florida’s engagement is largely driven by the local Impact Week in Tallahassee. In California, the Carlsen Center for Innovation + Entrepreneurship at Sacramento State drives the most activity. Tulsa’s 36 Degrees North, an incubator and co-working space, powers Oklahoma’s engagement. In Texas, a collection of organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area lead the way.
Rounding out the top 10 are North Carolina, Nevada, Iowa and Michigan and New Jersey (tied).
CITIES
Tallahassee (52 events) tops the list of U.S. cities. Fresh off of hosting GEC+Puerto Rico, San Juan (44) is in second place. Bloomington, Indiana (35), Sacramento, California (33) and Tulsa, Oklahoma (30) complete the top five.
