Warren County, North Carolina is participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) for the first time in 2021. The GEW USA team caught up with community organizer Eva Welsh to learn about the more than 20 activities planned, the collaboration taking place to make it all possible, and goals for the 2021 campaign.
GEN: How is Warren County coming together to celebrate GEW?
Eva Welsh, GEW Warren County: We are hosting several Ambassador Kickoff meetings to drive engagement for November 8-14 GEW week events. Our next Ambassador Kickoff will be at Halifax-Saponi Tribal Pow-Wow grounds. An additional ambassador kickoff meeting will be held at Lake Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce on October 15th.
GEN: What activities are taking place in Warren County during GEW?
Eva Welsh, GEW Warren County: This is our first year celebrating GEW, and over 20 events have been planned. For example, the GEW Influencers Historic Warrenton Tour is a three-hour walking tour to highlight historic details of the city while visiting local shops, restaurants and murals. The Young Warren Entrepreneur Event is a full weekend of activities dedicated to young entrepreneurs. The GEW Lunch & Learn: Side Gigs & Hustles is a talk that will cover five strategies every startup should implement, including social medial tips. The GEW Lunch & Learn: Agriculture Extension will be an informative conversation with Carla Norwood, Co-Founder of the non-profit organization Working Landscapes.
GEN: What are your goals for GEW 2021?
Eva Welsh, GEW Warren County: Our goal is to increase community awareness for rural entrepreneurship.
