Update on the Zika Virus

The Global Entrepreneurship Network, ANDI and their partners hosting the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Medellin are aware of the recent media reports about the spread of the mosquito-borne Zika virus in South America.

The World Health Organization reports that there is no public health justification for restrictions on travel or trade at this time and that the most important measure is "prevention of mosquito bites in at-risk individuals, especially pregnant women."

Similarly, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has asked travelers to be cautious, but does not restrict travel.

The GEC organizers encourage all travelers and registered delegates to take these suggested protective measures to prevent mosquito bites while in Medellin for the Global Entrepreneurship Congress. Pregnant women should consult their physicians before travelling.

The organizers will continue to monitor the situation and keep a dedicated page of the GEC website updated. For the latest information, please visit http://gec.co/update-zika-virus
