GEN Bahrain

GEN began working in Bahrain in 2009 when it organized the Kingdom’s first Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) campaign aimed at encouraging young Bahrainis to consider building companies. As the campaign matured through the early 2010s, GEN's activities in Bahrain steadily grew in scope. Government participation grew alongside the initiative. In 2015, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Bahrain's Minister of Transport, served as a national leader for the GEW campaign and the momentum resulted in Bahrain hosting the Global Entrepreneurship Congress , GEN's marquee annual gathering, in April 2019 which drew thousands of international delegates. To carry forward ecosystem initiatives on a year round basis, GEN partnered with Tamkeen, which anchors Bahrain’s private-sector development work. Bahrain opened a Startup Huddle chapter and GEN supports Bahraini founders through its global program suite. GEN maintains relationships with a broad set of Bahraini ecosystem stakeholders, including the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Tenmou and the wider MENA Angel Investors Network, Bahrain FinTech Bay and the StartUp Bahrain platform. GEN’s focus has widened toward positioning the Kingdom as a hub for fintech and applied AI within the Gulf while connecting Bahraini founders with the knowledge, networks, capital, and policy support they need to start and scale.

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
