This official recognition recognizes several years of work, notably through the organization and promotion in Benin of major programs and initiatives of the GEN ecosystem, including Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Entrepreneurship World Cup with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Foundation, as well as participation in several editions of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC).
For example, Benin participated in the 2018 GEC in Turkey, with the participation of Minister Modeste Kérékou, then in charge of crafts and entrepreneurship, as part of a participation authorized by the Council of Ministers.
These experiences have allowed for the gradual building of bridges between the Beninese entrepreneurial ecosystem and the GEN global network.
GEC Doha 2027: Benin's first major international showcase under its official GEN representation
Obtaining this official license in March 2026 now opens a new chapter.
The Global Entrepreneurship Congress Doha 2027 will be the very first GEC in which Benin intends to participate with an official GEN Benin representation and a genuine national strategy for projecting and promoting its entrepreneurial and economic potential.
The stakes therefore go beyond simply participating in an international congress.
The goal is to make GEC Doha 2027 a platform from which Benin can present itself to the world, showcase its entrepreneurs, businesses, investment opportunities, high-potential sectors, and the skills of its private sector, while developing business relationships with international partners.
GEN Benin serves as the National Delegation Builder for GEC Doha 2027, therefore we are committed to building, mobilizing, and preparing the Beninese delegation that will participate in this important international event.
The PRE-GEC – November 2026
To prepare for this mobilization and to enable Beninese stakeholders to better understand the opportunities offered by GEC Doha 2027, GEN Benin will organize a PRE-GEC in Benin in November 2026, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).
Global Entrepreneurship Week is an international event celebrated in nearly 200 countries, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, governments, institutions, businesses, civil society organizations, universities, and other stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The PRE-GEC Benin will therefore be an important step towards:
- identifying and mobilizing high-potential Beninese businesses and entrepreneurs;
- preparing participants for the GEC Doha 2027;
- showcasing investment and partnership opportunities available in Benin;
- facilitating meetings between Beninese businesses and international stakeholders;
- strengthening the international visibility of the Beninese private sector;
- preparing a structured, professional, and representative Beninese delegation;
- and above all, preparing Benin to truly present itself to the world in Doha in 2027.
