GEN in Botswana

GEN and Ngwana Enterprises organized Botswana’s first Global Entrepreneurship Week campaign in 2014. It quickly became a mainstay annual event anchoring the ecosystem. As the campaign coalesced, GEN worked to improve coordination across startup sectors and align the support ecosystem. GEN laid the groundwork for a national business angel network and launched its monthly meetup program, Startup Huddle, in Gaborone to support Botswana’s entrepreneurs. GEN also connects Botswana’s founders to its global GEC events. GEC+Africa, GEN’s largest bi-annual gathering of entrepreneurial leaders, features a regional pitch competition. GEN maintains extensive relationships with Botswana’s ecosystem leaders and convenes a Botswana ecosystem development working group, which anchors the community by driving scale-up programming and cross-border collaborations.

GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
