The Global Entrepreneurship Network is pleased to announce the opening of a new Startup Huddle chapter in Moncton, New Brunswick on Canada’s east coast to support the growth of the local startup community while crowdsourcing advice and support for its entrepreneurs. Moncton joins a global network of more than 60 Startup Huddle chapters world-wide and hosted its first event in October.

In addition to providing direct support to entrepreneurs, the Startup Huddle program addresses a critical element of success for all entrepreneur ecosystems – connectivity. According to GEN research, startup communities with higher levels of local connectedness translate to an increased number of startups – and that founders with high levels of connectivity grow their revenue twice as fast as those with lower levels.

“Startup Huddle is vital for Moncton as it fosters a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said local Startup Huddle organizer Patience Kanu. “This program provides a unique platform for local entrepreneurs to share their challenges, gain insights, and build connections. By encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, we aim to empower startups, stimulate economic growth, and inspire a culture of innovation within our community.”

At each Startup Huddle gathering, local founders give six-minute presentations outlining challenges facing their companies. Each presentation is followed by a 20-minute conversation with an audience of peers, mentors, educators and advisers who provide constructive criticism focused on finding solutions and increasing founder know-how. With new founders cycling through each gathering, and previous presenters joining the audience to give back, the community continues to expand while connections deepen.

"Startup Huddle not only showcases the talent and creativity within our community but also creates a safe space for startups to learn from one another,” added Kanu. “I believe this program will catalyze innovative ideas and foster a sense of camaraderie among entrepreneurs.

At the chapter’s first gathering, Christa Anderson, founder of Hide & Find Game House, a commercial gaming space which is dedicated to helping our youth unplug from the screen through interactive game play, presented. The second entrepreneur to present was Jenni Warren of Cats-only Pet Shop, a store that aims to provide tailored solutions for common feline health concerns.
