Wilmer Carcamo, co-founder and CEO of Caribe Coffee from the UK, was named winner of the I Am an Entrepreneur competition, a signature activity of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Carcamo grew up in poverty in Honduras. He described how despite and because of his circumstances, he gained the drive to work toward becoming an economically successful adult.

He said, "Entrepreneurship is a combination of all of these things: hard work, tenacity, creativity and the ability to use what is around you to make something great and make a difference."

Carcamo will receive a free trip to the next Global Entrepreneurship Congress, scheduled for November 14-18, 2021 in Riyadh. In addition, he will receive an invitation to join the GEN Starters Club, a community of talented founders with access to global connections with experienced entrepreneurs, mentors and investors.

Two other finalists from the competition will also receive an invitation to join GEN Starters: Jha Allen of Jha Allen LLC from the US and Bob Robert Jam of BlueBird Tech from Malawi.

This year, a number of inspirational entrepreneurs filmed their 'aha' moments in order to inspire others and share their advice during GEW:

  • Terry Jones, founder and former CEO of Travelocity and chairman of Kayak;

  • Jeff Hoffman, co-founding team member of Priceline.com and chairman of GEN; and

  • Dan Gable, founder of ShoutOut.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a week-long celebration of innovators who dream big and launch startups that bring ideas to life.
