As the world celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), St. Kitts and Nevis is shining a spotlight on its vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship has curated an exciting lineup of events that promise to engage, inspire, and empower entrepreneurs from all walks of life.
In a video message, the Hon. Samal Duggins, Minister of Small Business, Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives said this year's theme - Entrepreneurship is for Everyone - "reminds us that innovation, creativity and a drive to succeed are not limited to any one background, age or field."
The week kicked off with an empowerment service at the Rivers of Living Waters Christian Centre on November 17, setting an inspiring tone for the days ahead. On November 18 the streets of downtown came alive with pop-up events, encouraging locals to support small businesses and providing a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services.
A highlight of the week is the Youth Parliament session on November 19, where young voices will debate amendments to the Small Business Development Act of 2009. This collaborative effort between the ministry and youth organizations like Skanaipo and the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA) demonstrates a commitment to shaping policies that reflect the current business landscape.
The Entrepreneur Exchange summit and awards ceremony on November 20 will feature fireside chats and live podcasts with successful entrepreneurs, offering invaluable insights and networking opportunities. This event also includes the Small Business Awards, recognizing outstanding local entrepreneurs across various categories.
Capping off the week is a networking mixer on November 22 at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel, organized in collaboration with ASAP Creative Group. This event provides a relaxed setting for entrepreneurs to connect, share ideas, and potentially forge new partnerships.
