Antananarivo, Madagascar - Ikiray Miel de Madagascar is an apiculture startup that captured first prize at the national finals of the Entrepreneurship World Cup competition held recently in Madagascar.
Livaniaina Razanajafy, the founder of Ikiray Miel de Madagascar, won the national selection and advances to the next round of the global competition against national winners from 184 countries.
“Our project is about apiculture, producing honey from eucalyptus and mimosa tree. Our plan is not only about installing beehives to make honey but also we would like to give to create income for the local community; and on the other hand, to sensitize them about protecting the eucalyptus and mimosa tree, deforestation is still high in a rural area,” says Razanajafy.
“So by realizing that apiculture creates income for them, they will be motivated to protect it.”
Ikiray Miel de Madagascar is a startup that focuses on sustainable production, commercialization, protection of the environment while providing local opportunities for financial development.
Ikiray Miel de Madagascar emerged victorious from a pool of many contestants who applied – each receiving access to free virtual training services to help them take their venture to the next level.

In preparation for the EWC Global Finals, Livaniaina Razanajafy will participate in an acceleration program which features virtual training with international mentors to prepare for the EWC Global Final, which will be held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on November 12-14, 2019. The one-to-one mentoring will targeted to the company’s current stage and growth trajectory.
