GEN South Africa

GEN began operating in South Africa in 2008 by launching Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) through a series of events across the country. In partnership with SEA Africa, Endeavor South Africa, Junior Achievement South Africa and University of Pretoria Gordon Institute of Business Science, more than 11,000 people participated in events hosted by government ministries, entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs), corporations, universities and secondary schools. GEW each November following that built community over the years, which led in 2017 to the establishment of GEN South Africa, a registered NPO. GEN’s mission in South Africa is to support economic growth by fostering startup activity and supporting the development of South Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
