The Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT)operates within the Ministry Of Youth, Sports Culture & Constituency Empowerment.
The DYBT is an initiative of the Commonwealth Youth Program, Caribbean Centre (CYPCC) and the Government of Dominica. The Program combines attributes of several past initiatives and involves inputs from many other institutions and donors into a coordinated project that delivers an efficient package of services to young entrepreneurs.
The mission statement of the DYBT is to empower youth in realizing their entrepreneurial potential by facilitating access to financial, technical and social assistance geared towards the development of viable business, thereby contributing to growth and development of the national economy.
The focus of DYBT is three-fold:
I. Business Training: Training young people in micro and small business development to include business management, record keeping, marketing, financial management and personal development.
II. Loan Guarantee Facility: Facilitating access to credit through a loan guarantee fund in collaboration with financial institutions whereby entrepreneurs under the program are provided collateral/security and in some cases grant funding for their businesses.
III. Business Mentorship: The Trust is charged with the responsibility of establishing an excellent relationship with the private sector and resource persons for the provision of effective mentorship services to young entrepreneurs on a voluntary basis.
