The Grupo de Ecosistemas Inteligentes de América Latina (GEIAL) — Latin America’s Smart Ecosystems Group — will unveil its annual comparative report on October 16, 2025, mapping the state of entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems across the region. Following the release of this flagship publication, 27 individual cities will launch their ecosystem-specific reports, coinciding with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025 celebrations in November.
The comparative report and the city-specific insights bring together the latest data and trends in ecosystem development, highlighting cities' progress and ongoing challenges in areas such as entrepreneurial dynamism, access to finance, institutional coordination, and talent development.
During the steady drumbeat of new data releases over the next month, Hugo Kantis, GEIAL co-founder and GEN Research member specialized in dynamic entrepreneurship and innovation, will be joined by distinguished international expert commentators and leaders from the GEIAL and GEN communities, offering reflections from government, investors, and ecosystem builders.
Expert voices on 2025 regional insights will include Adriana Tortajada (CEO and Managing Partner, 1200VC), Claudio Maggi (Head of Territorial Development, CORFO), Blanca Torrico (Competitiveness, Technology & Innovation Division Specialist, IDB), and Rebeca Vidal (Public Policies & Competitiveness Executive, CAF).
Earlier this year, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and GEIAL recognized the work of entrepreneurship champions contributing not just to the development of their local entrepreneurial economies, but also to the region's collective intelligence on ecosystem building: Sandra Díaz from EMATRIS (Santiago, Chile), Ana Carolina Martínez from Universidad Icesi (Cali, Colombia), and Marcos Vega from the Prendho incubator (Loja, Ecuador). These leaders, along with those from 100 other organizations across the region, have contributed to the data collection.
