The inaugural Anita James Social Impact Awards took place during Global Entrepreneurship Week on the evening of Thursday, November 21st, 2024, recognizing exceptional individuals and organizations for their contributions to the betterment of St. Lucia. Hosted by Michelle Samuel, Founder & CEO of SLUDTERA Inc., alongside AI co-host Ava, the virtual event featured inspiring performances by vocalist Manasseh Stanislaus and a heartfelt tribute by Dr. Nadine Collins, celebrating the life and legacy of Anita James.

The event highlighted 15 impactful award categories, each showcasing outstanding achievements:

1. The Environmental Sustainability Award acknowledges organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and innovation in preserving the island's natural resources. The winner was Juakali Ltd.

2. The Community Health and Wellness Award recognizes an organization that has made significant strides in enhancing the quality of life for residents through innovative health and wellness initiatives. The winner was the NewLeaf Wellness Center.

3. The Education Excellence Award serves as a beacon of recognition, for those who have made significant contributions to the field of education, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping a thriving society. The winner was The Daren Sammy Foundation.

4. The Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon an individual or organization, that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. The winner was The Botham Jean Foundation.

5. The Youth Empowerment Award is a prestigious recognition designed to celebrate and amplify the efforts of young individuals making significant contributions to their communities and beyond. The winner was Girls of a Feather.

6. The Arts and Culture Appreciation Award acknowledges an individual, organization, or project, that has made significant contributions to the cultural landscape, fostering creativity and diversity. The winner was Kay Kweyol.

7. The Economic Empowerment Award is a prestigious recognition given to an individual, organization, or initiative that has made significant contributions to fostering economic growth and inclusivity. The winner was Blu Media Marketing.

8. The Technology and Innovation Impact Award is a prestigious recognition, bestowed upon an individual, or organization, that has made significant contributions through technologies or innovative practices. The winner was TechtronKnights.

9. The Housing and Shelter Initiatives Award is a commendation, dedicated to recognizing and celebrating an organization, project, or individual who has made significant contributions toward providing safe and comfortable housing solutions. The winner was WeFixIt.

10. The Food Security and Nutrition Award is a prestigious recognition that highlights exceptional efforts and innovations in ensuring access to nutritious food for all St. Lucians. The winner was EcoFood Training & Certification Agency.

11. The Animal Welfare and Conservation Award is a prestigious recognition, given to an individual, organization, or project that has made significant contributions to the protection of animals and the preservation of biodiversity. The winner was the St. Lucia Animal Protection Society (SLAPS).

12. The Disaster Relief and Resilience Award is a testament to the extraordinary courage and selflessness, displayed by an individual or organization during times of crisis. The winner was YEAC St. Lucia.

13. The Transportation and Accessibility Award recognizes an individual, organization, or project that has made significant strides in improving access to essential services. The winner was 758 Transit.

14. The Crisis Response and Public Safety Award recognizes an individual, or organization that has demonstrated exceptional dedication and effectiveness in safeguarding communities during emergencies. The winner was Rise Saint Lucia.

15. The Partner of the Year Award celebrates an organization that exemplifies exceptional collaboration and commitment to helping us at SLUDTERA to create lasting community impact. The Partner of the Year was Evolution Public Relations Management.
