Dr. Ester Kali, Letshego CEO, receives a Woman of Distinction Award from the United Nations Global Women Foundation.

On 14 March 2023, the United Nations Global Women Foundation awarded Chief Executive Officer of Letshego Holdings Namibia and Letshego Bank, Dr. Ester Kali with a Women of Distinction Award as well as a Women Empowerment Peace Ambassadors Certification. These awards recognise women for their extraordinary contributions to their communities, as well as their continuous efforts to break down boundaries to support other women, youth and underprivileged communities beyond their scope of work.

Dr. Kali was among 25 women across the African continent who were honoured with the Women Empowerment Peace Ambassadors Certification as well as an Honorary Doctorate at the “Empower Her Shoes Summit” and United Nations Women Foundation Global Awards Ceremony in association with Trinity Girls Network Corp. and TIUA Chaplancy School, in the United States of America.

Dr Kali is a well-respected member in the banking industry and holds the title of the first ever female CEO appointed in the Namibian banking industry. In 2019 she was awarded Businesswoman of the year in the Private and Corporate Sector category. In 2022 she was inaugurated in the Namibia Business Hall of Fame as a Laureate and seasoned Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of outstanding leadership qualities. In the same year, Reset Global People listed her among the top 100 women CEOs in Africa, in partnership with the Ghanaian Office of the President and Avance Media. In her personal capacity she continues to motivate women in their various societal roles and celebrates women in an inclusive future. Through these speaking platforms, Dr. Kali showcases her passion for leadership and pertinent social issues affecting the Namibian communities.

This followed after she was inducted in the Namibian Business Hall of Fame as a Laureate. Being recognized by the NBHF does open doors for many in the ecosystem.
