GEN in Austria

GEN's relationship with Austria is one of its longest and most institutionally embedded, dating back to the inaugural Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2008. Under the long-term stewardship of the Initiative for Teaching Entrepreneurship, GEW Austria grew into a national platform anchored by the annual Entrepreneurship Summit in Vienna, which has drawn high-profile founders and successive government ministers. In 2025, hosting transitioned to KPH Wien/Krems, reflecting deep roots in the country's teacher training community. With the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy engaged in the Startup Nations policy community, KPH Wien engaged in the Global Entrepreneurship Research Network, and the Austrian Angel Investors Association representing Europe on the Global Business Angels Network board, GEN's Austria relationship is mature, multi-layered, and well-positioned to keep connecting Schumpeter's homeland to the world.

GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
