From May 15 to 17, 2025, the Togolese capital will host the first edition of the International Festival of Local Economic Development (FIDEL), an initiative led by the GEN Togo in partnership with several local organizations.

This meeting is intended to be a crossroads for dialogue, networking and co-investment between local authorities and technical and financial partners (TFPs), with the aim of accelerating economic growth and job creation at the local level.

A highlight of the festival is a discussion meeting planned for May 16 between technical and financial partners and local authorities. It aims to strengthen partnerships and facilitate the financing of local projects by fostering a better understanding of the expectations and opportunities of both parties.

In addition to the discussions, several training sessions will be offered to local elected officials, entrepreneurs and development stakeholders.

Funding opportunities for communities will also be presented by donors and development institutions.

FIDEL positions itself as a lever for strengthening decentralization and a tool for promoting territorial investment. Organizers believe that local authorities, businesses, the government, and technical and financial partners will benefit from this collaborative framework.

For the State in particular, this could mean a reduction in the financial burden, through the revitalization of direct partnerships between businesses and decentralized structures.

FIDEL therefore acts as an inclusive platform to accelerate grassroots economic development and promote a more balanced network of investments in Togo.
