- Nigeria will launch University Innovation Pods (UniPods) in 50 universities as part of an integrated national innovation network. The initiative will train 500,000 youth in digital and innovation skills and support thousands of startups (UNDP)
- Vietnam wants one in ten citizens to be entrepreneurs by 2045 under a new national innovation startup strategy. The government is aiming for 5 million businesses by 2030, including at least 10,000 innovative startups. It also wants the country to rank among the top 40 countries in the Global Innovation Index (VNExpress)
- The United Kingdom has doubled the amount a startup can raise through the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Venture Capital Trusts investment schemes, and has significantly expanded the number of companies eligible for the Enterprise Management Incentives employee share ownership scheme (gov.uk)
- South Korea is mobilizing a cross-ministerial regional innovation project to respond to the risk of depopulation and regional extinction (ChoSun)
- Germany has drafted a Startup Bureaucracy Reduction Act aimed at removing administrative hurdles that are holding back part-time startups - now accounting for a record 70% of all new businesses - from becoming full-time.
