Kenya’s president, William Ruto, has reversed a rule that required ICT firms to have at least 30% substantive Keynan ownership to be licensed. The equity participation clause was added to the national ICT policy in 2019 to promote local stakeholder involvement but it has been found to hinder the growth of tech startups in the country. - India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways launches draft maritime innovation and startup policy (Government of India)
The ‘Saramala Innovation and Startup Policy’ seeks to create ‘Maritime Innovation Hubs’, port-based ‘Launch Pads’, maritime innovation awards, and more to nurture startups working on decarbonization and other key areas for the maritime and logistics sector.
