- GEN and Startup Genome have partnered with G20’s Startup20 and Brazil’s ABStartups to launch the ‘APEXE Nations Report’ – a new national index that assesses aptitudes and policies for exponential entrepreneurship – as part of Brazil’s G20 presidency. The inaugural report will launch around the G20 Social Summit in Rio de Janeiro in Global Entrepreneurship Week, immediately before the G20 Global Leaders Summit (GEN)
- Futurpreneur – Canada’s national host for Global Entrepreneurship Week – has secured a renewed investment of CAD $60m (USD $44m) from the government of Canada to support the next generation of entrepreneurs (Yahoo Finance)
- The British Government is recruiting a director for the UK-Kenya Tech Hub in Nairobi (FCDO)

- Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will launch a single window initiative to strengthen the country’s startup ecosystem by streamlining processes and consolidating resources under one platform (New Straits Times)
- Morocco’s sovereign investment fund FM6I plans to establish dedicated startup funds, with 1.5bn Dirhams ($148m) earmarked to finance rapidly growing startups (Morocco World News)
- South Korea’s Financial Services Commission plans to set up another 500bn Won ($359m) fintech innovation fund, having already invested 282bn Won in 85 local fintech startups between 2020 and 2023 (Asia Asset)
- The United Kingdom’s central bank and financial regulator have launched a consultation on their proposals to implement and operate a planned digital securities regulatory sandbox (Bank of England)
- Ukraine has launched the Defence Builder Accelerator, a four-month intensive training program to help defense startups secure their first investments (Tech.eu)
- Pakistan has introduced an entrepreneurship curriculum for all federal schools. From next academic session, all students from grades 6 to 10 will benefit from a curriculum designed to develop entrepreneurial skills and equip them with the necessary tools and mindsets for innovation and creativity (Urdu Point)

This Asian Development Bank report lead-authored by Imperial College Business School chair in technology venturing and entrepreneurship Erkko Autio introduces a new global index to assess the performance of digital entrepreneurial ecosystems at a national level. This Startup Coalition and Tony Blair Institute for Global Change report outlines a vision for how a future government could harness the UK’s world-leading fintech sector as an engine for economic growth, opportunity and inclusion across the country. This Centre for Economic Policy Research column lead-authored by University of Munich professor of economy and public finance Clemens Fuest argues that EU innovation policy should support disruptive innovation to break free from a middle-technology trap, but this needs profound reforms, both in terms of structure and financing. - State noncompete law tracker
This Economic Innovation Group interactive map and searchable tracker provides an updated view of U.S. State-level noncompete laws. Nearly one in five U.S. workers are bound by noncompete agreements, which are shown to suppress wages, reduce job mobility, and stifle innovation.
