  • U.S. Small Business Administrator Isabel Guzman has joined the speaker line up for GEC+Puerto Rico. Administrator Guzman – the leading advocate in President Biden’s Cabinet for small businesses and startups – will deliver opening remarks and participate in cross-border policy discussions as part of the Latin America and Caribbean-focused event in July.   • Tech Safari is partnering with Founders Connect to host Afrotech Fest on June 1st – a festival in London celebrating Africa’s tech ecosystem (Tech Safari)
  • London Tech Week, taking place 10-14 June, is preparing to welcome 45,000 delegates from 90+ countries.   • Chile has announced the creation of Startup Campus - a $10m, 4,000 sqm hub in Santiago that aims to unite ecosystem players and spur the creation of scientific and technological companies (Contxto)
  • Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health has launched HealthX, a startup program that seeks to advance the emirate as a hub in the biotech and life science industry (DOH)
  • Nigeria is launching the “Nigerian Startup House” in San Francisco in an effort to attract investments to Nigeria (Technext)
  • Singapore’s Vertex Holdings, the VC arm of state investor Temesek Holdings, is launching a new Japan-focused fund (Nikkei Asia)
    Several venture capital and startup organizations focused on diversity within tech have announced the Diversity Data Alliance, a commitment to standardizing the way that data is collected, with the aim of increasing capital allocation to underrepresented founders (TechCrunch)
  • The Saudi Tourism Authority has confirmed that the Unified GCC visa, permitting travellers to to explore all six Gulf nations for more than 30 days, is scheduled for implementation by year’s end (The Economic Times)
