News

  • Dubai has launched the 'Entrepreneurship Programme', an initiative to train 10,000 Emiratis in entrepreneurship skills that will enable them to transform their ideas into scalable ventures. The Crown Prince also launched 'Dubai Founders HQ', a new physical campus and digital ecosystem that consolidates and strengthens Dubai's startup ecosystem (DIFC)
  • Senegal has announced it will implement a Startup Act by the end of the year. The framework aims to bring the country closer to the standards adopted by Nigeria, Tunisia and other countries that already have similar legislation (La Nouvelle Tribune - in French)
  • Cape Verde has launched the 'Morabeza Fund', a new $100m fund to support local startups. The initiative is part of the government's wider efforts to develop the country's digital ecosystem and increase its share of GDP to 5% (Extensia)
  • Nigeria has appointed four tech leaders to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship - the main coordinating body for implementing the Nigerian Startup Act (Technext)
