The Startup Ireland team presented its strategy for Dublin to become a global tech startup hub by the year 2020 to the Irish Parliament Committee on Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation on July 8, 2014. The Vision2020 strategy was very well received by the Committee members, who commented at the end that the presentation “a real wake up call for Ireland”.

The Chairman of the Committee at the time, Damien English (now Minister for Skills, Research & Innovation), subsequently tweeted: “Great to hear from @startupireland @ Oir Jobs Committee. Impressive presentation – Vision is achievable & affordable.”

Startup Ireland followed up the momentum created by the Committee presentation by organising an ‘in-camera’ forum, which was attended by two government ministers and saw leading stakeholders from Dublin’s startup sector gather in Google to hear talks from PwC, Deloitte and Goodbody Stockbrokers on the Vision2020.
